Deep underground station design and its construction are considered to be a very complex Structural Engineering fete and the challenges to overcome in the structural design is very much dependent on the location and the soil conditions. The design of D Walls would need a very good co-ordination between the structural engineers and the Geotechnical Engineers. Complex Soil Structure Interaction studies using 3D Software like PLAXIS would be required. Vertical movement of people is also a very important item which would decide the size of the station box and the number of levels required.
