Commercial Buildings: Concrete Foundations
Foundations are very important for the stability of the building. The type of foundation to be provided for a particular building often depends on many factors like soil conditions, site constraints, groundwater table, slope stability and the quantum of loads to be supported from the superstructure.
For large commercial buildings, the loads transferred to the foundations are often quite large and the traditional pad or strip foundations may not be sufficient to support these loads. Raft foundations, Pile foundations, and specialist soil
structure interaction studies may be required.
We at AB Consulting Engineers understand the importance of a safe and viable structural engineering solution to complex foundation issues and have vast experience in the design of foundations in different parts of the world including New Zealand. We have provided foundations in poor soil conditions like expansive soils in London and sandy soils of the middle east and have designed many buildings in Waikato and understand the challenges with liquefaction. We will collaborate with Geotechnical engineers to provide cost-effective and safe foundation solutions.
